Smile OOTP 26 Patch Released: 26.7.77

We have officially released the patch that has been up. The new version is 26.7.77. Please do continue with your feedback. We're always happy to hear any and all feedback, and want to make sure we put out the best product for people to enjoy.

Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions. Steam users the update should apply automatically when you next load up the game.

Changelist 26.7.77
  • Major overhaul of KBO rosters/ratings
**All KBO minor league players will appear with real names and data (foreign players are still unlicensed and have fake names)
**Added all missing minor league players
**Adjusted ratings of the majority of KBO players based on performance so far this year
**Significantly adjusted ratings of nearly all KFL players, based on performance and/or additional scouting reports/info where possible
**Updated uniform numbers for all KBO and KFL players
  • Other roster updates
**Re-rated many, many MLB/MiLB prospects based on updated scouting reports/data
**Emphasis on mid-level and lower-level prospects who were more out of date. The highest rated guys were generally adjusted less or not adjusted at all unless their outlooks changed significantly from the early season
**Many more new DSL players added to the db, rated
**Handful of new 2026 draft prospects added, most top 2026 prospects already in the db had ratings tweaked
  • Added an alternate colorblind-friendly skin option
**This is still a work in progress, please provide feedback
  • Slightly adjusted SP overall calculation
  • Fixed default split ratings in new standard game
  • Fixed some issues of the camera panning after plays
  • Fixed historical minors players not being assigned to teams if that setting is selected
  • Fixed un-retire coach option appearing incorrectly
  • Minor league roster management
**Adjusted overall AI minor league management
**More aggressive at trimming excess players (although more relaxed minor league setup)
**More flexible at minor league setup (should release prospects less)
  • Fixed eye aging getting exponentially better when high development modifier is used
  • Updated contract negotiations (mostly around minor league contracts with majors options)
  • Fixed some corrupted games
  • Changed live score background to grey
  • Fixed auto-withdraw of coach contract offers when a coach is signed
  • Online League: Fixed issues with declining player options
  • Online League: Fixed error 151 when offering contract to posted players
  • Misc roster updated, misc bug fixes, UI fixes

Important info for online leagues: This version is compatible for online leagues. The online league fixes should resolve when the commish updates their league file

Download link for Windows PC (Fastspring Webstore Version):
Main server: PC Installer
Mirror: PC Mirror File

Here's a PC installer (Fastspring) that installs into a single folder, which is useful for external HDs for example. Or for creating a second test install of the game, so you can try the patch out without the risk of messing up your main install of the game if something is wrong in the patch:
PC Single Folder Installer

Download link for MacOS (FastSpring):
Main Server: MacOS Installer
Mirror: MacOS Mirror File

Thanks,

After I installed the skins files then updated a few trophy pictures then re-install the skins by deleting the skin.bin file for the changes to take effect, the Strengths section in the trade module no longer has the color (Red, Yellow, Blue) circles.

Dark mode was updated, Light mode was not.

See pictures.

Some files were moved around to accomodate the alternate skin. You can copy the ball_blue/ball_red/ball_green/ball_orange into ball_blue1 and similar, and then it should work

I implemented your revisions and still the balls are not showing.

Notes:

Copied the ball_blue1, etc, files from the ootp alternate\images directory to the ootp dark\images directory

Deleted the skin.bin file in the ootp dark\ directory for the skin.bin to re-install

I think you'd also need to copy over the images.cfg file from the alt skin directory to make sure when the skin rebuilds it knows to fetch those items.
(FYI if you want the same as before, I would suggest copying the ball_blue as ball_blue1 in the same dark directory. The alt skin uses a different variation there, as emoticons to make sure there's more than just the color to differentiate)

There shouldn't be a charge just to download a patch if you follow the correct link in the first post of the patch threads.

To add on to what dishnet said, don't go to the Fast Spring Store unless you are buying the game. Patches are just downloads via posts at the top of this forum. No charge.

I fear that when you went to the Fast Spring store looking for a "patch," you bought another copy of the game unnecessarily.

Just checking if this is a me problem lol, but does anyone else see an inordinate amount of pitching injuries post patch? I played my first game after patch and had 3 pitching injuries all in subsequent innings in the same game (minor ailments but kind of weird).

Just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else before I throw my pitchers out there to the wolves for game 2. I haven't changed my injury settings post patch and have had maybe a couple of pitcher injuries all year (playing in 1984, major injury - low, minor injury - normal settings)

Corrupt file with patch?

I've run into a problem with this patch - my save (started at the beginning of this season with the Athletics) changed the MLB setting to MLB (R), thinking it's changed MLB to some sort of rookie league. That's caused some, but not all, ratings to adjust upwards, created a second stat line for players that says MLB R, and when I go to demote a major league player, it actually says that I'm "promoting" them to AAA. The season seems to be running more or less normally in what I've played since, even with ratings doing weird things across the board. For instance, I just completed the amateur draft like normal, the all star break seems to be fine...so, I don't know.

I assume something has gone wrong somewhere, but when I tried re-installing the patch, nothing changed. Obviously I don't want to start from scratch by uninstalling the game as a whole. Anyone have any bright ideas? I've checked all my settings, and as far as I can tell, nothing has changed.

Tis an anomaly. Must have hit the RNG jackpot for a game there with 3 consecutive pitcher injuries on 3 consecutive innings. I remember seeing something like that happen back in the day in Front Page Sports Baseball and it was a bug so coming out of the patch got nervous for a sec. lol. Sorry!

I ran a 2025 test game using the latest patch. A few unscientific observations:

1. The AI did not release any players drafted in 2025. I checked after the season and ALL players taken in the 2025 draft were still with their teams. (I imported the actual 2025 draft results.) That's good!

My universe setup includes an additional 30-team Low-A league, so that I have AAA, AA, A+, A, A-, and the Florida, Arizona, and Dominican Rookie leagues. For active roster size, minimum age, maximum age, and service time limits, I settled on the following:
MLB: 26
AAA: 26-0-0-0
AA: 26-0-0-7
A+: 26-0-25-6
A: 30-0-24-5
A-: 30-0-24-4
R (AZ & FL): unlimited-0-0-3
R (Domincan): 30-0-20-3

I'll probably increase the draft rounds from 20 to 30 or 40 next time because of the extra Low-A teams. But from what I saw, there appeared to always be enough players across all minor league teams.

2. This is no longer a problem. It seems the latest patch fixed this. There were relatively few journeymen in their late 20s to 30s clogging the AAA rosters. Very good!

I'm using the four independent leagues (Atlantic, American, Pioneer, Frontier). I adjusted their financials to allow them to attract and sign these 4-A journeymen players instead of them ending up in AAA. That's working really well. And I increased the price to purchase one of these independent league players to $ 1,000,000 to discourage the AI from buying too many of them, which previously happened when the price was $ 250,000.

3. The AI is still releasing too many two-star and lower potential minor leaguers (age 22-26, usually pitchers, mostly relievers), and then it immediately signs a 2-star or lower potential minor leaguer (same age range, pitcher, usually reliever) as a replacement.

This isn't game-breaking. It's slightly annoying because there is just too much release-sign, release-sign, release-sign going on in the minor leagues. Again, if the newly signed player is better (or younger) than the released player, fine. But that's rarely the case. Too much unnecessary (and unrealistic) minor league roster churn.

4. The AI is still signing players to minor league contracts before immediately releasing them again. One example: 26 year old minor league RP Wilkel Hernandez - see below image.

3/14/2025: Released by the Detroit Tigers organization
3/31: Signed by Tigers, 4/01: Released by Tigers

9/16: Signed by Royals, 9/17: Released by Royals
9/24: Signed by Royals, 10/06: Released by Royals
(regular season ended October 7th)

Otherwise, things are working quite well. I'm finally going to start a long-term save game tomorrow. Thank you to the Developers for constantly working to improve this complex and wonderful game!

Thanks for the report. I've been waiting all year to be able to commit to a long-term save. Hopefully we are almost there.

I said much the same as this in this post in the thread about the beta patch:

Unfortunately, it's a bit of a game breaker for me....
